8vo, pp. vii, [1], 528; 3 engraved folding plates, numerous figures and diagrams in the text; later gray buckram-backed marbled boards, paper label on spine; the bottom of the first half of the text block is dampstained and cracking, and the corners with small paper loss up to about page 170; all else good and sound. Simson was the foremost Scottish mathematician of the 18th century. His edition of Euclid, first published in 1756, was the basis of all subsequent printings until the beginning of the 20th century.
