One of the ways to do this is by comparing selected facial features from the image and a facial database. It does that by comparing the face of the accessing user with a database of faces already stored in memory. It is typically used in security systems and can be compared to other biometrics such as fingerprint or iris recognition systems. This project uses the eigenface system (based on pricipal component analysis - PCA) to recognize faces. The entire program for facial recognition is written in MATLAB. The great advantage of facial recognition system is that it does not require aid from the test subject. Properly designed systems installed in airports, multiplexes and other public places can detect the presence of criminals among the crowd. Software used: MATLAB 6.5 76 pp. Englisch.
