4to. First UK edition, first printed by The World Publishing Company in 1968 in the USA. Bound in decorative paper covered boards with the original dust wrapper. Not paginated. [28 pages] Illustrated throughout in colour with the last page folded over so that can be folded out into a larger page picture showing the Zoo. Counting book i.e., one Elephant, Two Hippos etc. The cover of the book has minor/ scattering of foxing on back cover; the dust wrapper is badly torn and separated along the hinge with sellotape residue on the front with pieces missing along spine; Inside tiny fingers have caused finger handling marks mainly along the lower edges of the pages, fore edges slightly discoloured due to age, light foxing on pages and last fold out has a crease in the topright corner. Not in fabulous pristine condition, but a rare scarce title. Although not Eric Carle first published book, the first being The Brown Bear, Brown Bear What Do you see in 1967, I believe this could be his second prior to the publication of The Very Hungry Caterpillar first printed in 1969 in the USA.
