Lightest wear to the book; no jacket as issued. 1st printing. Clean and unmarked. The third of Filippini's cook books after leaving Delmonico's. No. 2 in the Handy Volume Culinary Sries; after Eggs and before Dessert. The Handy Volume series followed his The Table: How to Buy Food, How to Cook It and How to Serve It.1888, New York: also by Webster. The two most notable persons associated with Delmonico's were Charles Ranhofer, a chef and author of the Epicurean and Oscar Tschirky, Maitre de hotel, most famous for his association with Waldorf's. Although the author of a famous cook book, Oscar of the Waldorf, he was not a chef there nor at Delmonico's. Filippini who worked at Delmonico's various locations for 25 years was overshadowed by both.
