Quarto: 12 parts in 1, with the original wrappers bound in. Features a chromolithograph of the Arms of Cardinal Wolsey and 146 additional armorial bookplates. From the library of Walter Hamilton, author of Dated Book-Plates, with a Treatise on Their Origin and Development (1895), with his signature to a prefatory blank leaf and his bookplate to the front pastedown. Additionally, tipped in at front is correspondence from publisher W. Griggs who acknowledges Hamilton's assistance in preparing the present work. In a one-half burgundy morocco over marbled paper binding, with gilt titles and marbled endpapers. Some general scuffing and wear along the extremities of the boards, with a bit of scratching to the front panel; else very good.

Established in 1981, johnson rare books & archives is located at The Book Shop in downtown Covina, about 20 miles east of Los Angeles. The shop is open six days a week and houses an inventory of some 30,000 titles, ranging from the general second-hand to the truly antiquarian.
