Removed from a larger volume. 8 3/4 x 5 3/4 inches, 91 pages of text plus 16 folded leaves. Some foxing, particularly on the first few pages and on some of the folding plates. Records of the sale of lands in Washington City (Washington, DC), beginning in 1791. There was concern that the person in charge of the sales had not kept good records, and this report was intended to find out if he owed the government any money. What it presents to us in minute detail is all of the sales of the lots making up the new Washington City, who owned each plot, and what was paid for it. Also included are record of the lots sold to the US Government for US Government buildings.We think each of the folding leaves would be suitable for framing, as they have the dates on them of the purchases, as well as the names, each lot purchased, etc. A very interesting document pertaining to the founding of the national capital of the United States.
