Beautifully illustrated colour sketches of the Dardanelles strait, by British artist Norman Wilkinson. First edition, in publisher's original binding. With thirty full-page colour plates reproduced from watercolour drawings made on the spot, and some black and white vignettes throughout. Also with a sketch map to page vi. Collated, complete. Pen inscription to front free endpaper of a prior owner, 'H. P. Wykeham-Musgrave.' A diary of sketches from British artist Norman Wilkinson's time in the Dardanelles, Gallipoli and Gibraltar during his submarine patrols. This collection of paintings is accompanied by his written experiences. In publisher's original brown cloth with gilt lettering and illustrations. Externally smart, with some bumping to extremities and rubbing to boards. Age toned endpapers. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and clean, with all thirty original tissue guards present.
