The Second Common Reader. By Virginia Woolf. New York: Harcourt, Brace and Company, 1932, First American Edition, Stated First Printing. No dust jacket. 295 p, 8.75 x 6.25\u0094, 8vo. In good condition. Navy cloth boards normally scuffed at edges and worn\/bumped at corners. Head and tail of spine bumped; gilt lettering moderately dulled\/soiled & very difficult to read. Spine tanned from shelf-wear. Light age-staining on boards. Scuffing & sticker residue on both paste-downs. Text-block exhibits normal toning in margins. Binding intact. Please see photos. Adeline Virginia Woolf (1882 \u0096 1941) was an English writer and one of the most influential 20th-century modernist authors. She helped to pioneer the use of stream of consciousness narration as a literary device. Woolf began publishing professionally in 1900 and rose to prominence during the interwar period with novels like Mrs Dalloway (1925), To the Lighthouse (1927), and Orlando (1928), as well as the feminist essay A Room of One\u0092s Own (1929).
