About this Item

20 pages (lacking outer wraps) title page and 9 with full page woodcut plates by this Soviet Painter David Petrovitch Shterenberg (1881-1948) + 2 half-page and a vignette title page. Some wear at staples and light creasing to cover and someone has added the titles of the poems in English to the pages, overall good+ for this ephemeral fragile children's book with these surreal artists woodcuts (Xylography), It was considered as a high-water mark in this artists work, the print run was 10,000 of which few have survived, especially outside Russia. The artist's works are exhibited at the Treyakov Gallery and the State Museum of Fine Arts. Rare in any condition. Seller Inventory # 9008

We very rarely use "fine" or "mint" as a description, mainly due to the age and the fact that 99.9% of what we sell has been pre-owned and therefor Fine would not be a term for a book we sell despite its fine-like appearance. We always take items back unreservedly if not in the condition as described. We always try to describe fully.
