Profusely Illustrated with B/W photographs, Mannerheim, under The Direction of The Russian General Staff, Journeyed from Turkestan to China. The Expedition was to perform Military information. He collected ethnographic information and manuscripts, He became the 6th President of Finland and served as Commander of Finnish Forces in WWII. FROM THE LIBRARY OF STEVE FOSSET, EXPLORER AND ADVENTURER. FOSSET WAS THE FIRST PERSON TO NAVIGATE AROUND THE WORLD IN A BALLOON. HIS BOOKPLATE APPEARS IN EACH VOLUME. A very nice set without jackets. First Edition. No bumped corners to book or other signatures. Some spotting/Browning to edges due to the chemical impurities in the paper. A very decent set.
