Quarto, [36], 60, [14]; 352, 351-477, [21] pages. In Very Good minus condition. Bound in early full brown calf, double blind rule to board edges. Spine paneled with label missing. Both hinges cracking at head and tail. Head of spine chipped. Lacking frontispiece. Ink marginalia to front and rear free endpaper. Front free endpaper loose. Title page with two early ink ownerships as well as two 'S' marks. [par.]1r with 1783 ink ownership. 2[par.]1v with ink note. The text proper begins new pagination and register. The colophon is dated 1640. Shelved in Case 4. ESTC: S106902. Gibson 141b. A translation, from the expansion in Latin entitled "De dignitate & augmentis scientiarum", of: Of the proficience and advancement of learning.
