FINE book. Leech engravings. Orig panels & spine bound in @ back. TEG. Riviere SIGNS elaborate gilt turn in. Elaborate gilt turn ins triple ruled, egg & dart & floral decor. Bound & SIGNED "Bound by Riviere & Son" on turn in. The "& Son" part was only used in post 1880 bindings. Boards edges triple ruled in gilt. Spine with gilt dotted raised ribs. Spine panels all w elaborate gilt floral design. Few extrems & other high points scuffed a bit, no actual wear. FINE inside, near pristine text & plates. TEG gilt bright as new. Also, book stays closed when stood on its spine. This binding seems to be the most elaborate Riviere offerred for this series. See same book in BIBLIO for more scans. FINE book. 1st illus ed.
