8vo., vi, 236pp., + [iv], with large engraved folding map frontispiece showing places & landmarks of interest and battlefields with outline hand-colouring, a few short closed tears, edges untrimmed as issued, bound in very good quality twentieth century calf over marbled boards, gilt decorated spine in compartments with five raised bands and a contrasting morocco title label. A VG+ generally clean tightly bound copy of this scarce topographical work for children. 'This little composition originated in the desire of leading young people to take a more than common interest in the geographical surface of their own country, and is intended to follow the first knowledge of a map of it, and of Dr. Aiken's excellent and valuable introduction, "England Delineated," - a work which it will be a great advantage for young people to know thoroughly before they enter upon the present.' (Preface). The work is suprisingly scarce JISC Library Hub Discover lists only three copies held in UK national, academic and specialist libraries. Seller Inventory # 3943
