Synopsis

First edition with Scribner 'A' and the Colophone on the copyright page. Bound in black cloth with gold lettering. A VG+ copy. The book is clean and tight with good gold lettering. It has a faint bump to the top corner of the rear board. Previous owner's bookplate is affixed to the front endpaper else unmarked and fine inside. The price clipped dust jacket is a secondnd issue with orange lettering on the spine. The dust jacket has shallow chips and tears to the spine tips and upper edge of the rear panel. It has tiny nicks on the corners. Still an attractive copy in a worn but servicable jacket.

About the Author

Ernest Hemingway did more to influence the style of English prose than any other writer of his time. Publication of The Sun Also Rises and A Farewell to Arms immediately established him as one of the greatest literary lights of the 20th century. His classic novella The Old Man and the Sea won the Pulitzer Prize in 1953. Hemingway was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1954. He died in 1961.
