December 1 1906 states: 'The writer of the following Diary had no idea her words would ever be published: therefore they can only be looked upon as the artless pastime of one who was paralyzed for 18 years. The Diary is printed for the friends of the writer; it may' however, interest a wider circle, who will appreciate her sympathy and intellectual activity under adverse circumstances. The illustrations were drawn by her sister. Blue cloth boards. Impressed edge front and back. Gilt text spine with gilt band top and bottom. Impressed decoration down spine. 20 x 13.5cm. 503 pages. All 3 sides of book gilt edged. Dark blue e/ps. f/c frontis with protective tissue in situ as bound. f/c illust end of book. Thoughts, diary of events, music, poems. Mostly in English, some parts in French. Shakespeare snippets in margins. Interesting personal view into life at the Hotel Prince of Wales Cannes from Nov. 19th 1891 to other continental stays until 1897. Vast array of peerage and royalty mentioned + various battle skirmishes that were around and about them. For anyone that belongs to the Mulvany family, a number are mentioned and in detail. So important for a family tree. Condition: Cover spine has sunned. Front and back general age/handling marks. Wear top and bottom spine. Minor rub on corners.
