This is the story of two dogs opposite in temperment: Alphonse a french poodle and Archibald an englsh Mastiff. Set in the days when France and England struggled for possession of North America, it is the story of how these two dogs came to be friends. In a sense this is the story of Canada; a discerning reader may remember the two statues of dogs on opposite corners of the square in front of the Notre Dame De Grace in dontown Montreal. The book features orange boards with black lettering and a vignette of Alphonse and Archibald on the cover. The binding is tight and square; there is a little fading on the front illustrated endpapers. The dustjacket is unprice clipped and is protected by mylar. There is some minor chipping and foxing.This was never a library book; all illustrations are present. This was never a library book.
