"[He] is commonly credited as developer of the "currency principle" - effectively, 100% gold reserve currency - behind the Currency School's position in the debate leading up to the 1844 Bank Reform Act." Nonetheless, Joplin almost single-handedly established joint-stock banking in England and Wales. Today he is admired for developing, in the context of the Georgian period, a remarkably sophisticated macroeconomic model." (Royal Bank of Scotland Heritage Hub) Goldsmiths' 27417. Kress C.3186.
