Two volumes: iv, 320 pp; iv, 312 pp; with traces of library stamp to foot of each title-page, contents otherwise clean; untrimmed. Recent quarter calf, morocco labels. First edition. An elaboration of Hartley's associationist psychology. The work was revised by John Stuart Mill, and appeared in 1869, as the younger Mill felt that it did not receive the attention it deserved on first publication.
