With 3 full-page, unpaginated, exquisite steel engravings of Ancient Harps + several small related vignettes. An index of titles of the 150 examples of traditional songs transcribed for the piano, listed in Irish and English. The main body of the text is complete and predominantly clean and bright, though age-toned and - Mercifully - almost wholly Free from Foxing; there are some handling marks to the pages of musical notation, which have clearly been used to some extent. Yellow eps, with small ink inscription and date : 1840, to front and rear. The once-beautiful green, vertically-incised boards with elaborate stamped gilt decoration, are in a deplorable condition, clinging to the tattered remnants of the spine binding, Largely unbound, with fore-edges of leaves showing signs of being exposed irregularly.
