A charming and handsome copy of the rare first edition of this book. No other copies currently found for sale on the internet. Not dated but library sources suggest circa 1845. The very attractive later, half-leather binding, with raised bands and rich gilt decoration and title on the spine, and marbled boards, is in very good+ condition. A fascinating and wide-ranging 284-page text, with top edges brightly gilt, is in very good, tight, clean condition, with light age-browning of the frontispiece, title page and some other pages.
