Quarto. Pp. xiii [3] 269 [4] + [58]ff. plates. Edition limited to 1,000 copies for sale in Great Britain and the United States. With Seventy-Nine Illustrations in Colour and Black & White. Eleven of the plates are in color. Much additional information comes from the recent discovery of a manuscript list of commissioned paintngs in the artist's own hand. A wealth of documents accompanies the text: the newly discovered list; a catalogue raisonnee; a list of paintings in America; portraits of Angelica by Joshua Reynolds; an auction list, Kauffmann's etchings, and a list of engravings depicting her work. Light foxing to endpapers and first and last pages, and to deckled edges of text block. Single tiny spot to front board, else fine, in glazed brown boards backed in white cloth, gilt.
