Top of free front endpaper has former ownership signature of zoologist Alfred W. (Fuzz) Crompton ("AW Crompton, Cambridge, Feb. 1953"), who made several annotations inside (he read it while working on his Ph.D. at the University of Cambridge, England). Spine is cocked; binding has soil and wear; the half-title page has a diagonal crease; text block has interior hinge crack, holding. xv, [1], 368 p., with in-text illustrations plus plates. Interesting provenance. [b 302a].
