8vo, pp63 + pp4 + pp11 + pp12 + pp4 + pp4 (last 4 page section loose but present) showing the various acts with blank pages throughout for notes. Hardcover issued without DJ. Original binding of brown cloth with gilt titles to spine and front board in fair condition with damage to top of spine with piece missing, rubbing and chipping to all edges and tips and a little fading to gilt. Inside hand written to FFE paper is "Montrose Royal Lunatic Asylum 1878" with other pasted hand written paper with dates up to 1871. All pages in good condition although the loose section is badly foxed with some notes to margins throughout the text. The Lunacy (Scotland) Acts 1857 to 1887 was the collective title of the following Acts:[1] The Lunacy (Scotland) Act 1857 (20 & 21 Vict. c. 71) The Lunacy (Scotland) Act 1862 (25 & 26 Vict. c. 54) The Lunacy (Scotland) Act 1868 (29 & 30 Vict. c. 51) The Criminal and Dangerous Lunatics (Scotland) Amendment Act 1871 (34 & 35 Vict. c. 55) A reasonable copy of a scarce edition with an interesting provenance.
