The first edition of this very scarce work.ESTC citation number T22028.William Pulteney's treatise reply to Lord John Hervey's earlier work, 'Remarks on the Craftsman', which greatly condemned Pulteney's character.Hevery attacked Pulteney due to his periodical 'The Craftsman', in which Pulteney published attacks on Robert Walpole regarding the South Sea bubble. Hervey and Pulteney had previously been involved in a duel with one another, in which Hervey narrowly escaped with his life.Due to this work Pulteney was struck off the roll of privy councillors, and dismissed from the commissions of peace in several counties.Collated, complete. Disbound, as issued. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very lightly age-toned and clean with the odd spot and handling mark. Very Good.
