First edition, first impression, the scarce first title of the Dizzy and Allison series, set in Paris and followed by the anticlimactically titled Nothing Happened After All (1965). The Scottish children's writer Jean Bell Shaw Evans (1910-2000) is perhaps best remembered for her Susan series. "Her death in her ninetieth year comes just as a growing number of adult collectors are discovering with delight her unique combination of humour, characterisation, and strong sense of place" (obit.) "Jean Evans", The Herald, 28 Nov. 2000. Octavo. Frontispiece and 5 full-page illustrations by Thelma Lambert. Original blue boards, spine lettered in gilt. With dust jacket. Light sunning to spine, one tip bumped, foxing to edges and endpapers, contents unaffected and clean. A very good copy in like dust jacket, price-clipped, spine panel lightly sunned, a little rubbing and couple of nicks, somewhat foxed but front panel bright and clean. Seller Inventory # 154741
