This is a lovely copy of the very scarce 1925 first edition - limited to 500 copies- of Councell's thoughtful 'defence' of the power and potential of alchemy. The foreword is by Sax Rohmer. This has obviously been very well looked after: pages are clean and bright with no inscriptions, marks or notes. Only the front and rear FEPs have some natural tanning. Boards are clean and in excellent condition, and gold lettering is unusually clear and bright: we received the book in a light unattached tissue covering (potentially on for many years)which we have removed to reveal the first rate condition of the book underneath.
