Very nice condition. MISSING THE SIX FOLDING PLATES ( identified as "cartoons," ) . But otherwise complete, and clean! Features six steel engraved scenic views (5 x 9 inches) and eight "Supplements," comprising illustrated texts including "Underground Life: Coal-Mines and Miners," "The Suez Ship Canal" and "New York Illustrated" (No. 1 & No. 2 - views and informative commentary focusing on the city). Also included are works of fiction by Alfred de Musset and Victor Hugo. The Winslow Homer illustrations are as follows: "All in the Gay and Golden Weather" (June 12); "The Artist in the Country" (offset from engraving opposite) (June 19); "On the Road to Lake George" (July 24); these three items, each 6 1/4 x 6 3/4 inches, appear beneath the journal's front-page masthead; "Summer in the Country," (July 10) 4 1/2 x 6 1/2 inches; "The Last Load," (August 7) 4 1/2 x 6 1/2 inches; and "The Picnic Excursion," (August 14) 11 x 7 3/4 inches (a full page illustration).
