The Graybill/Iyer/Burdick author team have written a conceptual introduction to statistics that immediately introduces readers to statistical inference. This algebra based book is not intended to be a compendium of every procedure in statistics, rather the focus is on a few basic ideas that form the foundation of statistical inference. Inference concepts are first introduced using a population proportion, a simple concept that appears frequently in familiar applications, and are then extended to other parameters.
