AQUATIC INSECTS IN NEW YORK STATE 1903 HARDCOVER NEW YORK STATE MUSEUM. When I first started collecting books my focus was the natural history of New York State, and it was a rich area for exploration. I was constantly astonished at the efforts of the State to document its natural resources with quality publications, well-made books often with color plates. It s time to share those treasures with others. Here is another book of that genre for your consideration: Aquatic Insects in New York State , a study conducted at the entomologic field station, Ithaca, N.Y. under the direction of Ephraim Porter Felt (the State Entomologist). There was a team responsible for the preparation of the book: James G. Needham; Alex. D. MacGillivray; O.A. Johannsen; & K.C. Davis. This medium-sized hard cover book (6 ¼ x 9 inches, 517 pages plus a six-page List of Publications available from the New York State Museum) was published by University of the State of New York in Albany dated 1903. The book is bound in the dark green boards typical of these NYS natural history publications, with embossed framing on the covers and gilt titles on the spine. There is a section of 52 full-page plates starting after page 499, a few of which are actually in color. Many are anatomical drawing and a few more are b&w photos of aquatic habitat sites around Ithaca. Condition: This book is in very good condition. There is some edge wear from rubbing along the gutters and from bumping to the corners and spine tips. The top edge is dust-dulled and lightly soiled. Inside the book is unmarked and I get the impression that I am the only one who has ever opened this book and sparingly at that. The interior pages and plates are clean and bright without toning or foxing. Both hinges are intact, and the binding is tight and sound. This book is not ex-library or a remainder.…
