Dublin & London: At the Sign of the Three Candles & Hamish Hamilton, 1934. Tom O Flaherty, the older brother of Liam, was like him raised in the Aran Islands and was a native Irish speaker. They shared a radical view of Irish and world politics, both of them at one time members of the Communist Party. Tom published two volumes of short stories (written in English) prior to his death in 1936. This is a Near Fine copy of the First Edition, which is uncommon to rare. Oatmeal-colored cloth binding with lettering and a representation of an Aran curragh in blue. Clean text; 192 pages; illustrated with photographs. There is a slight splay, else a Fine copy. The rare dustwrapper is present. Very clean and bright with a slight darkening on the spine. Some chipping at the corners and at the margins of the spine, else Fine.
