4to. Pp. 36. Foreword by Laurence Binyon. Illustrated with 13 full-page black-and-white plates with descriptive tissue guards. Bound in full maroon cloth with gilt lettering stamped on spine. A handsome copy with no detracting qualities. Remarkable imperial garments from the collection of Bernard Vuilleumier, presented here with the tissue guards printed with itemized overlay indicating the symbolism contained in each robe. In sum, a worthy reference to the grammar of Chinese symbolism in textiles. Usually found in wraps, this copy was specially bound in Chinese red cloth, 1972, by Rene Patron for longtime Los Angeles bookseller William Dailey. Seller Inventory # 5536
