Inscribed and signed by author on half-title page ('To Charlie From Susan lost in the Adirondacks'), with a TLS, also to Charlie, dated May 1st 1987 in the same ink as the signature ('Susan'), in which she describes the work as 'part of that strain (I hope) of American writing I so love that tries to understand our bloody and barbarous and also marvelous history -- out [sic] place in Placelessness.' Minor cosmetic wear to wrappers, faint 1 inch stain along fore edge, pencil marks and marginalia in text (ostensibly Charlie's). [56 pp.] A collection of verse by the American poet, some of which originally appeared in literary magazines and other publications (Conjunctions, Sulfur, Acts, Ironwood, Boundary, Luna Tack, Hambone, Io). Howe is associated with the Language poets and is considered Postmodern in style. She won the 2017 Robert Frost Medal and the 2011 Bollingen Prize in American Poetry. Signed by author.
