Philadelphia (PA), David McKay Company, 1924, hard cover, bound in beige cloth with black lettering to front cover and spine, about 8 ½ X 6 inches, (vii) 54, 86, 58, 75 and 65 pages, with 272 illustrations (4 in colors). Cover is in very good condition or better showing some very minor wear to spinal extremities and some light soiling to front board upper left corner. Interior is very fine showing only two name signatures to front endpaper, a long but discreet crease to both two first blank pages and title page and one veru small hole to page 33 lower right corner (in margin) without consequence. Half-red over green publisher's cloth, gilt ruling & lettering on spine, marbled endpapers, fore-edges dyed red (minor edgewear, minor wear to corners), still a VG copy, w/ former ownership marking on 2nd flyleaf. Early printing of this excellent work on alphabets and lettering for creating commercial show cards and point-of-sale advertising for studio fixtures, brush and pen lettering, business trends, and designs in the Jazz Age.
