Contemporary binding of bron calf over marbled boards, five raised bands to the spine with gilt title on red morocco label in the second and gilt decoration in the remaining compartments, marbled page edges, pastedowns and endpapers. Condition good, front hinge cracked through, cover weak, threads showing, spine backstrip is starting to come away from the top, pages slightly toned, hardly any foxing though, plates clean. Lacks plate opp page 230. Contains 12 of 13 hand coloured full page plates by John Leech, plus numerous line illustrations in the text.
