Five raised decorative bands on backstrip. Gilt page edges. Panels show rubbing to leather along edges. Vintage, faint, previous owner's name lightly written on fly. Marbled endpapers. Book is tight and sound; flaws limited to exteior rubbing. An uncommon early printing of Maunder's classic that serves as an in depth guide to observe constellations with the naked eye. Maunder's study of sunspots and the solar magnetic cycle led to the years from 1645 to 1715 to be commonly known as and referred to as the Maunder Minimum.
