Add to basketArthur Holly Compton was an American physicist who won the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1927 for his 1923 discovery of the Compton effect, which demonstrated the particle nature of electromagnetic radiation. At that time, it was a remarkable revelation: while the wave characteristics of light had been convincingly established, the concept that light possessed both wave and particle attributes faced considerable skepticism. He is also recognized for his role as the head of the Metallurgical Laboratory at the University of Chicago during the Manhattan Project. Portrait frontis, 19 pages, 370 pages, 9 illustrations.
