Kornblum founded the publishing company Coffee House Press formerly Toothpaste Press, based on Toothpaste magazine in order to be an advocate for poets who otherwise may have struggled to be published. Many of its authors are women and members of minority groups, often AsianAmerican. Korrnblum was editor, publisher and printer many volumes were printed by hand on a letterpress. Acclaimed amongst its later publications is A Girl is a HalfFormer Thing by Eleanor McBride. The volume in hand is of double interest as it was printed by Kornblums seminal publishing house, Toothpaste Press, before it changed to Coffee House Press, and since it contains his own poetry.
