Synopsis
BIFA X Rankin is the latest book from Rankin Photography and is a celebration of the relationship between the British Independent Film Awards and Rankin whose creative collaboration began in 2007.
Shot by Rankin, the book documents this special relationship through a series of striking portraits taken from the BIFA archives right up to the present day. Featuring over 50 British actors, directors and producers the book celebrates all that BIFA stands for championing achievement in British independent filmmaking and honouring the talent in the industry. Portraits include, Bill Nighy, Dame Helen Mirren, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Jack O'Connell, James McAvoy, Jamie Campbell Bower, Paul Greengrass, Kristin Scott Thomas, Joanne Froggatt, Michael Sheen, Nicholas Hoult & Rosamund Pike. The book opens with a foreword by Rankin and an interview with BIFA founders and current co-directors Eliot Grove, Tessa Collinson and Johanna Von Fischer.
About the Author
Photographer, publisher and director, Rankin was born in 1966 in Glasgow. At the age of 21 he started taking photographs, dropped out of the accountancy course he was studying and returned to college to study photography. In 1991 Rankin co-founded the style bible Dazed and Confused and then Hunger Magazine in 2011. He has shot subjects ranging from Mylie Cyrus to the Queen and has had his images published on the covers of Vogue, Harpers Bazaar, Arena and GQ to name but a few. Rankin lives in London with his wife, Tuuli and his son Lyle
