529pp. 'This report is based upon investigations carried out over a period of five weeks (September to October 1945) in Germany during which time the following factories and individuals were visited:- M.A.N. , Guldner., Motorenfabrik., Deutz. Bosch. L'Orange. Deckel. Lang. As far as possible, the layout of each factory visited is given with details of damage, numbers employed, productive capacity, developments, and any other special points of interest. A complete picture follows of each type of engine investigated with details of materials used when such information was available. Dealing with production methods, it will be appreciated that many machining operations and the tools employed were commonplace, for that reason, the more special machines only are described, also, any machining methods of which information was desired. Finally, details are given of engine and materials research methods with descriptions of apparatus used.' At the end of the Second World War The British Intelligence Objectives Sub-Committee (BIOS) and other Agency personnel inspected German factories, laboratories, industries, etc, to scrutinise documents and interrogate or interview the directors, scientists, engineers, etc to obtain technical information that might be of value. The resulting reports were published in very limited quantities for those that might find them useful. Interior very good and clean.
