FIRST EDITION (1923), 4to, cloth backed boards, coloured illustration of 2 children with daisy chain, spine illustrated and lettered black, lovely pictorial endpapers by Honor Appleton, 200 pages. 23 colour plates including 2 by Mabel Lucie Attwell, others by Nina K. Brisley (3), Cicely M. Barker, Joyce Mercer, Hilda Cowham, Frank Hart, E. Dorothy Rees (2) and Alice B. Woodward. Black and white illustrations by Appleton, Helen Jacobs, H.M. Brock and others. Authors include Sheila Braine, Brisley, Jessie Pope and Nathalie Joan. Corners very slightly worn, contents very nice apart from a little very pale brown staining on about 6 pages from a rose petal, neat name and date Xmas 1923 in Belongs To box, neat inscription on reverse of frontispiece, same date. A very good plus clean tight copy. Attwell's delightful plates: Toadstools (little boy with Boo-Boos); Grandma's Sampler (little girl in mobcap stitching); Barker's plate shows a little girl with a pink balloon.
