Single sheet, 8.25 x 21.75 inches, folded to 8 pages, 8 b/w reproductions of photo stills from the movie. Text includes a synopsis of the plot and the announcement "for early production" of a list of 9 more movies based on Jack London's works, as well as "all other stories by Mr. London, past, present, and to come." Scarce original promotional pamphlet for Hobart Bosworth's silent film production of "The Sea Wolf." Produced with the authorization and collaboration of Jack London, starring Bosworth as Wolf Larsen and reportedly with London playing the role of one of the seamen aboard Wolf Larsen's ship, the Ghost. Hobart Bosworth (1867-1943) was a pioneering film actor, writer, and director, who contracted with jack London to produce movies based on his stories - beginning with The Sea Wolf in 1913 and followed by 5 more films in 1914. Though his partnership with London did not last, Bosworth had a long career in film and was known as "The Dean of Hollywood." (See Tony WIlliams "Jack London: The Movies, an Historical Survey.) We had our open bookshop in the town of Sonoma for a total of 17 years, including 9 years at our East Napa St. location, however, as of April 13, 2013 we have closed our doors. Our business is now conducted online, by appointment, and occasionally at antiquarian bookfairs at which we exhibit annually. Orders usually ship within 2 business days. US orders are shipped BY Priority Mail, Media Mail, OR UPS ($5-$15 on most single title orders).
INTERNATIONAL CUSTOMERS PLEASE NOTE: Foreign orders are shipped at cost. International surface mail is not offered by the US Postal Service; all orders are shipped by air. We utilize the $35.00 Priority Mail International flat-rate mailer (4 lbs maximum weight) when we can adequately protect the book within. Oversize books will in most cases cost a minimum of $50.00 to ship overseas. The ABE default shipping rates are based on orders for 1 book at a maximum weight of 2.2 pounds. In many cases (large books, sets, insurance) this does not reflect the actual shipping cost. We will request additional shipping compensation through the Abebooks system when necessary.
