Half Black Calf leather with gilt blocked titles and dec. navy cloth covered boards.295 x 215 mm approx. iv + 588 pp. All colour and toned paper plates as called for except Chess Board- for separate use. Vol I of the Boy's Own Annual 1879 containing all issues of the penny weekly from No1 Sat Jan 18th 1879 through to No 37 Sat Sept 27th. Offered and priced as a binding copy. Poor ( boards hanging by a wing and a prayer with heavy rubbing to leather, free end papers have longitudinal creases, mild foxing to prelims - up to title, pages of book block evenly tanned with no other notable foxing, a few of the fold out illustrations have ragged fore edges where not folded correctly and remained prominent, conservation repair tape to a couple which were found to be split at folds - max 4 cm approx.
