BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN, THE ROLLING STONES FILE: THE ULTIMATE COMPENDIUM OF INTERVIEWS, ARTICLES, FACTS AND OPINIONS FROM THE FILES OF ROLLING STONE

The Rolling Stone Files is the ultimate collection of articles, facts, and opinions spanning Bruce Springsteen's entire history, featuring interviews, thoughts, and reflections from the Boss in his own words. The book is part biography, part autobiography, part insightful rock history--an incredible tribute to the Everyman of rock, one of its most beloved and enduring icons.

Fourth in the "Rolling Stone Files" series (the others covered U2, Neil Young, and REM), this book presents the life and career of Bruce Springsteen through a chronological arrangement of the many articles about him that have appeared in Rolling Stone magazine. It begins in 1973 with a brief blurb on him in the "Random Notes" (read "gossip") column and ends with a review of his latest album at the end of 1995. This is a compendium of facts, articles, gossip, interviews, and reviews that puts Springsteen's life and incredible career in perspective. It's an interesting approach to biography as it is also autobiography, with Springsteen talking about himself in interviews. The gossipy "Random Notes" columns give a glimpse into his private life, especially during the break-up of his marriage to Julianne Phillips and his remarriage to his guitarist, Patti Scialpa. The reviews serve as a medium for charting the rise of his career. Putting all of these articles in one place, spanning over 20 years, shows the power and excitement Springsteen brought to the music world. A nice addition and update to the books already published about Springsteen.?Rosellen Brewer, Monterey Bay Area Cooperative Lib. System, Cal.
