From the English introduction: "We describe the earliest views of Budapest which start in the late fifteenth century and trace them through to the time of the Fifteen Years War at the end of the sixteenth century. The views appeared in different forms, as woodcuts, copperplates and paintings and originated in various places, particularly Nuremberg, and also Rome and Istanbul We will explain the technical, intellectual and historical background to the production of these views and go on to examine them individually, pointing out in each case (i) The authorship, publication medium and location of the view (ii) Particular items of interest (iii) Correspondence with contemporary events battles, sieges, etc (iv) Other considerations, such as the accuracy of the views and their relation to the geography of present-day Budapest.
