The first edition of Walter Crane's popular collection of children's rhymes and verses. The undated first edition by George Routledge and Sons n the original publisher's maroon boards. Containing the music for beloved English nursery songs including 'The Mulberry bush,' 'Oranges and Lemons,' 'King Cole,' and 'My Lady's Garden' among others.Selected and decorated by Walter Crane, English artist and illustrator known as one of the most influential and prolific children's book creator of his generation. Crane began working for Edmund Evans in 1864 producing bright, colourful children's books which revolutionised the type of children's books available.Engraved and printed in colour by Edmund Evans. In the original publisher's quarter cloth binding over printed laminated boards. Externally with bumping to head and tail of spine and extremities of boards, lightly marked. Internally, firmly bound. Pages generally very clean throughout. Good.
