About the Author
Richard Brennan comes from a medical family and has studied the Alexander Technique since 1983 and has been a fully qualified teacher since 1989 having undergone a three-year STAT teacher training course approved by the Society of Teachers of the Alexander Technique UK.
Richard has been featured in many newspapers and magazines including The Irish Times, The Sunday Tribune, The Irish Examiner, Cosmopolitan, Hello and Home and Country; he has appeared on numerous TV and Radio programmes in Ireland and the UK. He has written seven books six of which are solely on the Alexander Technique which are sold worldwide and have been translated into eight languages including Russian and Hebrew. The total number of copies sold is in excess of 200,000 He has also written many articles on the technique for a variety of newspapers and magazines and has also produced a CD and audio-cassette. Titles include The Alexander Technique - natural poise for health, The Alexander Technique Workbook, Mind and Body Stress Relief with The Alexander Technique, The Alexander Technique Manual, Change your Posture - Change your Life.
Richard now lives in Galway, Ireland where he runs a private practice, is also the director of the Alexander Teacher Training College in Ireland. He was the Irish national contact and chair of the certification co-ordination committee for Alexander Technique International (ATI) and vicepresident of the Irish Society of Alexander Technique Teachers. (ISSAT). In 1990 he was a guest presenter at the AmSAT Annual Conference in San Franisco
He has been a pioneer in helping to make the technique accessible to many thousands of people. He started the first Alexander Technique teacher training college in Ireland in September 1998, which is now approved by STAT. See alexander.ie for more information.
