This day-by-day account allows the reader to obtain an understanding of the scale of the conflict and assess the impact of distance and time upon operations or alternatively, to concentrate upon a specific battle as it unfolded. By detailed each combat sector, be it the encirclement battles in the north or sweeping advances in the south, the reader is able to study a chosen area of operations in isolation while also assessing its impact upon the wider campaign.

About the Author

Brian Taylor is the author of this two-volume study. He is also a keen student of other periods of military history. He is the author of The Empire of the French about the Napoleonic era. He is currently writing a three-volume study of Rome for Spellmount. He lives on Teesside.
