It groups various series of lacquers, leaving aside pipe-cases. This catalogue, which only presents about a third of the objects in the inventory will I hope reflect as faithfully as possibly the totality of the collection: the numerical ratio of the different kinds of boxes (tea caddies, incense holders, writing boxes, inro, etc.) and of signed and unsigned pieces." excerpt from the introduction by Pierre F.Schneeberger (keeper of the Baur Collection).
