A wonderful period parody of Walter Foster type art instruction books and cowboy culture, as well as having the book learnin' value equivilant to other instruction books. Horse drawing and proportions are also featured. The humor spares nobody: not cowboys, Indians or cactuses. advice to the budding cowboy artist includes "Bleached steer skulls are always good","always droop barbed wire between posts", and "always remember that the Indian is a traditional lazy creature, the only time your drawing should contain much action is where you are depicting a war dance, wagon raid or similar incident, on all other occasions the Indian should be sleeping, fishing lazily or just shuffling along" One half-doller sized cow drawing sticker on the cover, which may or may not be original.
