[PHILOSOPHY]. Ed. Elizabeth Grosz. Contributors: Manuel De Landa, Linda Martin Alcoff, Edward S. Casey, Gail Weiss, Claire Colebrook, et al. "Becomings: Explorations in Time, Memory, and Futures." Ithaca, NY, and London: Cornell University Press, 1999. First edition, first printing. English language. Hardcover with green cloth boards, no jacket. Collection of eleven nonfiction academic philosophical texts inspired by futurism and Deleuze, with an introduction, notes, and index. 9 1/4 x 6 1/4 inches. 18 oz. vi, 250 pp. No jacket. Sticker residue on back board. Light toning. Text clean. Very Good Plus. ISBN: 080143632X. "With the advent of the new millennium, the notion of the future, and of time in general, has taken on greater significance in postmodern thought. Although the equally pervasive and abstract concept of space has generated a vast body of disciplines, time, and the related idea of 'becoming,' transforming, mutating, and metamorphosing, have until now received little theoretical attention. This volume explores the ontological, epistemic, and political implications of rethinking time as a dynamic and irreversible force. Drawing on ideas from the natural sciences, as well as from literature, philosophy, politics, and cultural analyses, its authors seek to stimulate further research in both the sciences and the humanities which highlights the temporal foundations of matter and culture.".

Store description

I sell uncommon art catalogs, academic monographs, and prints, as well as rare ephemera such as posters and zines. I ship from Brooklyn, New York. I am an alum of the Rare Book School and the Colorado Antiquarian Book Seminar, as well as Indiana University and the Ohio State University. I started in the trade at the Wexner Center for the Arts bookstore, and I have previously worked for the Columbus Metropolitan Library, the Billy Ireland Cartoon Library and Museum, the Art Institute of Chicago's Department of Prints and Drawings, and the Indiana University Art Museum's center for Prints, Drawings, and Photographs. More recently, I was the rare book cataloger at Donald Heald Rare Books, for whom I worked the ABAA's New York International Antiquarian Book Fair.
